Time to honor

How can the week be over already?

It seems like we just returned home from vacation and were settling back into old routines.  Time flies too quickly if you ask me.

During this week, I have taken time to honor my food cravings.

Lots of healthy vegan stews and kale salads.

tea with lemon squeezed in

and been loving our new fabulous nespresso machine.

Hello amazing espresso……I am in love!

I have also been honoring my piriformis pain by scaling back a bit on my running.

Here is what my workout week has looked like:

  • Monday run 3 miles
  • Tuesday 45 minute hip opener yoga practice
  • Wednesday run 4.5 miles
  • Thursday 45 minute hip opener yoga practice
  • Friday I hope to run 4 to 5 miles and then do a yoga practice with a blogger friend in the evening.

Yes friends it is a time to honor for us……..Be good to yourselves and honor what you need right now too.

What have you been honoring lately?

Any fun plans for the weekend?

We are relaxing, running, and having friends over.  Can’t wait!

Fitting it all in

Good morning friends!  Let’s hear it for Wednesday :)

And I have the next two days off (Thursday and Friday) so that is even better……

Speaking of days off, since I have been working again and not on vacation, I obviously have not been working out as much.

What have I been doing you ask?

Well I have been going on morning walks with Pepsi.

It is the very first thing I do when I wake up.  I just stumble out of bed and put her leash on.  I guess it is my way to wake up and I love that time with her.

I have also been going on nightly walks with Bill.

We try to pick a strenuous route and usually cover about 2 miles.  It is a great way to end the day and catch up.

I also have been breaking out my yoga mat.

But I have not been doing yoga (maybe I should).  I have been doing core work and push ups and yes using that foam roller.

Also, I have been riding…..just not every day.

I usually ride both weekend days and then fit in a ride or two during the week.

Could I be doing more?  You bet. But I have to honestly say I do not like to put lots of extra pressure on myself when work on its own is stressful enough.  I want my work outs to be invigorating and de-stressing-not he other way around.

What I would like to do is add in some yoga, maybe an occassional run and or boot camp.

Does work make it harder for you to workout as much as you like?

It does for me!

Yoga Glo Surprise

This morning I opened my gmail and found the most awesome surprise from a bloggy friend!

Tiffany from Living with Balance and I have become friends through this little internet world of ours.  We are both forty something women trying to be the best we can be while keeping our sanity :)  I personally think we rock the 40′s!

She has always suggested I try the Yoga Glo website but I never budged from my habit of yoga download.  Well she fixed that!  She bought me a month subscription to try it out.  How awesome is she?

I am so very excited to share what I find.  If it is as good as Tiffany says I know I will be in for treat.

Have you tried it?

Turkey Burgers

Last night I created a delicious turkey burger made from organic white meat turkey.

I got really creative with my ingredients.

Besides these spices I added in chopped red pepper and onion.

Then I cooked them on the good old George Forman grill and plated them over romaine lettuce and added more veggies on the side.

It was another great meal.

Funny how Bill and I were almost 100% vegan (and ate mostly veggies/beans/pasta) at one time but I am realizing I feel better eating less starch and more protein.

Which way of eating makes you feel the best?

On the workout front, I have been loving the yoga download app on my iPhone.

I love that I can star episodes and then pick one and get a good, calming 20 minute workout in whenever I want.

Do you use a yoga app at all?

So glad it is already Tuesday night heading into Wednesday……….
