Missing in Action

Gosh where did this week go?!

I am so sorry I was Missing In Action for most of the week.  Can’t wait to spend some time catching up on blog reading. :)

Saturday turned out to be relaxing……just what I needed to recover from a very busy work week.

Started out with a delicious homegrown grapefruit and coffee:

Love my grapefruit spoon!

Then I got down to business walking this little guy.

Came home and finally got a chance to try out my yoga glo subscription.

I ended up trying a 20 minute vinyasa flow class from one of Tiffany’s favorite instructors.

The class involved lots of core work and it was just what I was hoping for.  Yoga glo is WAY better than my old favorite yoga download.  They don’t just shorten longer classes when you want a quicker workout and it is “live” teachers teaching the classes.  Very much like being in a real studio.  Plus there are SO many class choices.  Way worth the monthly fee of 18 dollars in my opinion!

Then the workmen arrived to finally start work on our torn up ceiling.

YAY!  Can’t wait to move back into my bedroom :)

So Bill and I left the house-too crazy with the noise and workmen about and decided to soak up some rays of sun at our neighborhood park.

It was wonderful……

And relaxing………got some reading in too

Well the workmen are knocking on our door again so I better get out of their way…….

On the weight-loss front-I have lost a total of 11 1/2 pounds!  Have to say I have never seen a diet work so consistently.  All my clothes are lose and I feel like I did when I was in my 30′s…….strong and fit :)

Yay!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend as much as we are here.

Enjoy!

Am I Eating 500 Calories a Day?

Many of you have asked me if I am only eating 500 calories a day on my hcg diet experiment.

Well first I want to share with you what I am eating and then tell you the answer!  I am sneaky like that ;)

What I am eating is tons of fruits.  Specifically apples, oranges, grapefruits and strawberries.

I am also eating bread sticks.

I am drinking coffee with no creamer though you can have up to a tablespoon of milk a day.

And I am eating tons of veggies!

Especially wonderful farmers market tomatoes.

Look at my fridge-veggies have invaded:

And lastly, I am eating lots of salads for lunch and dinner with 4 oz of lean protein on top.

Here is a good one I made last night.

My base of lettuce, cucumbers, red peppers and onion:

With my added 4 oz of chicken:

And then I made a fabulous no sugar salad dressing with these ingredients:

Served with a breadstick…….Delicious!

You have got to whip up that salad dressing.  It is good!

Now to answer your question about the 500 calories.  I honestly do not know how many calories I am eating a day.  I have not counted one single one.  I do know that I feel great and have lost 9 pounds already.

I am looking at this as a 21 day diet and then stick to the same regime but add in healthy fats and some low glycemic carbs after the 21 days is up.  Oh yes, and I will have me a glass of wine too-can’t wait!

Pepsi’s Day and Some Results

Yesterday Pepsi and I both had fun enjoying her birthday together.

My day started out with my microwaved apples and cinnamon. I take a large fuji apple and cut it up and add lots of cinnamon.  Then I place it in the microwave for at least 3 minutes.  I find the longer I cook it the better.  It really does tie me over for about 2 hours.  I think after my 21 diet, I will still eat this but add a scoop of raw almond butter.

This breakfast was accompanied by my favorite tea.  Can’t get enough of this stuff!

Then Pepsi and I got out for a birthday walk.  Gosh I remember the days when I would run her 5 miles up Mt. Rose and back on trails and she was barely tired.  Now my dear Bear Cub can only go about 3 blocks before she is really winded :(

Then I went out and ran a few errands and came back with the main event of Pepsi’s day!

Yup that is a happy dog!

Speaking of my 21 day experiment-I have lost 7 1/2 pounds since I started last Friday.  I really cannot believe how easy it has been.  Gotta love it!

On a side note, I updated my recipe page with a few of more recent recipes and later today I am gonna post a new citrus chicken recipe that is equally delicious and healthy as well.

Hope you all enjoy your Saturday.  I am off to Starbucks for some coffee, the farmers market for some fresh veggies, Lowes for a broken faucet :(  and then maybe some yoga.

Enjoy!

A Complete Turnaround

I know I have mentioned before how proud I am of my sister because she made a complete turnaround with her health.  Today I wanted to share with you a bit about her story.

About three years ago, she was at her heaviest weight and started to suffer from gall bladder problems.  In fact, her doctor said she needed surgery to get her gall bladder removed because she was having frequent gall bladder attacks.

This is a picture of me, my sis, and our friend Sherrill three years ago, December.

My sis knew she didn’t want surgery so she started researching all things about the gallbladder and found the gallbladder diet.  That diet eventually morphed into how she eats now which is a high raw, vegetarian diet with a bit of salmon thrown in.

She has transformed herself with  good, high quality food.  A testament to all us bloggies who know good, whole foods are what keep us ticking!  She did not count calories, fat grams, protein.  And she did not resort to weight loss surgery.  She has lost a total of 110 pounds over the course of three years.  And she just glows.

Check out these amazing pictures we took on Friday.  The jeans that are huge on her now are the jeans in the photo above from 3 years ago-crazy!

Amazing huh?!

Do you know someone who has made a complete turnaround in one aspect of their life?
