<p>It makes me kinda sad when I don&#8217;t get a chance to sit down and enjoy it.</p>
<p>When I have to be at work, I bring it with me and still sit at my desk and enjoy every single bite.  Yes folks the school could be in chaos but breakfast must be eaten <img src='http://fitandfortysomething.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>While I am at home, it is even better.</p>

<p>Yes friends those are my <strong>oats in a cloud</strong> today.</p>
<p>I finished off the last of my biscotti flavored crock pot oat groats (basically oat groats, water, almond extract, cinnamon, and raisins cooked over night)</p>
<p>And covered the whole mess with frothed almond milk and almond butter.</p>

<p>Now I am off to walk Pepsi and get in a couple of running miles.  Anxious to see how I will feel.  My leg hip is a bit tight!</p>

<p>I am not one of those people who can have one cookie or one glass of wine. But I can say since reading healthy living blogs I have come a LONG way (so has Bill <img src='http://fitandfortysomething.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  ).</p>
<p><em>So of course this holiday season has been somewhat of a challenge for me.</em></p>
<p>I am sure you can relate with all of the social events that should not be missed and all of the extra food and delicious cookies that seem to only come once a year (homemade biscotti, gingerbread men!) your healthy living can get derailed.</p>
<p>I am happy to say that I have been taking it all in stride with a f<strong>ew key things that work quite nicely for me.</strong></p>

<p>Go out with your husband/boyfriend/friend and have some fun.  Life is short!</p>
<p>Last night we had Bill&#8217;s work party at a <a href="http://www.tavernatony.com/">greek restaurant in Malibu.</a></p>

<p>Definitely not one of the times you should stick to a strict eating regime.</p>
<p>Instead of being strict vegans (which we could have easily done at this restaurant) we were a bit looser and stuck to the vegetarian route.</p>
<p>There was no way we were going to miss out on the flaming cheese with cognac!</p>

<li>My next rule is <strong>be a bit flexible</strong> and eat some food out of your normal routine.</li>

<p>We ended up splitting the California Greek and the Vegetarian Platter.</p>

<p>We also went on a couple of good hikes, runs and walks.</p>
<p><strong>On Saturday</strong> we did a fabulous hike/run at La Jolla Canyon and took tons of pics but I ended up washing the memory disk in the laundry.  Boo!  Still hoping it will repair itself soon and then I will share the pics with you.</p>
<p><em>Anyway, this is how the weekend workouts wrapped up</em>:</p>

<li>Saturday: 2 mile run with hill repeats, 6 mile hike/run combo</li>
