Starting to feel like home

Bill and I moved from Reno, Nevada to Ventura, California about 5 years ago.

We left a very close-knit group of friends that we had cultivated after many years of living there and that centered around cycling.  We loved our friends and the community but eventually we ended up hating the snow and really wanted a change.

We chose heaven Ventura.

We love the weather, the outdoor options, our jobs, and the location.

And finally we feel as if we have started to make good friends like we had in Reno.  It takes a while when you get older ;)

Yesterday we got to join our cycling friends for a fun cycling themed afternoon.

What could be better than italian food, italian wine, italian bikes and friends?

The food:

The wine:

Bikes!

of all kinds……I think Bill was smitten with this one in particular:

And of course…….friends.

We have to say we finally feel like Ventura is home :)

And the icing on the cake?  We got to walk to and from the bike shop!  That makes it even better.

Food Coma

Hello friends it is Bill again……….Kalli’s infamous husband……Back to talk about 2 things near and dear to my heart. No no, I haven’t switched careers to become a bloggy. Fret not. I want to share with you food and cycling!

It’s been an extraordinarily productive week on the bike. I’m not racing any of the SoCal races as of yet, so after a bout of dead legs screaming out for more carbs, I’m laying some smack down here in Ventura with absolutely no desire to race. I’m choosing to race the Tuesday and Saturday rides and I say race lightly. Though I am doing a great ride this Saturday-Sea to Summit.  I am sure Kalli will take some great pics of that event.

Thanks to Keith and the crew down by the Wharf at Nonstop Ciclismo – namely, Ian– big thanks for helping me out the other day. Plus they’re a great shop to just go hang and chat bikes.

Let’s now fast-forward to our amazing start of human feeding on Saturday. Kalli and I started the day off by consuming these amazing treats.

After pretending that this was enough food, we were off and riding our bikes with our great friend Jack.

Then on to second breakfast.  Gotta love the bike it gets your appetite going :)

Good way to start the day! Crazy bad for me, but sooooo good.

And then we made our way down to see Kalli’s parents.  Now this is when being a bloggy became hard work!  Who wants to take pics at dinner when you just want to eat?

Appetizers were the only pictures I took.  But all the food was delicious!

Check out these bacon-wrapped dates……….with an almond inside each one

And calamari

Alright people…my day is done.  And I am done talking food.

Thanks for reading about my antics……and for letting me into your blog world as well.

I think Kalli has a giveaway coming up and it has something to do with this shirt
