My favorite places to shop

Today I was thinking about how I am a creature of habit and really only shop for groceries, toiletries, and other items from a few certain places.  Occasionally I will add in new and fun places but seem to return to my tried and true finds.

For groceries you must all know where I shop (at least if you read my blog somewhat regularly!)

Yes the mother lode.

This is where Bill and I grocery shop for everything.  If it is not here, we probably don’t eat it.  Well with the exception of Tahini.  TJ’s does not sell Tahini and I have a slight addiction.

And that brings me to my second favorite place to shop for everything else.  Today I even found Tahini there :)

Seriously what can you NOT find at Target?  I love this place!

And lastly my absolute favorite online obsession is Amazon.  I seriously cannot go a week without ordering something from them.  I love that you can really research your items and get great reviews and honestly I love that California residents do not have to pay tax.  Oh and did I mention the free shipping?  LOVE!

What about you?

What are your 3 top picks for shopping?

I could use some new ideas ;)

Thank you Trader Joes

Last night Bill and I had  fabulously light and flavorful salad for dinner.

It was a delicious mix of butter lettuce, garbanzo’s, brown rice, corn, cucs, tomatoes, chicken, raw walnuts, a few raisins and this new find as our dressing.

This avocado verde salsa is delicious and I was so glad to see it did not contain sugar!  Yay for a salsa with no sugar.  Thank you Trader Joe’s :)

We served the salads with half of a brown rice tortilla.

Love!

I have found that a good low cal substitute to salad dressing is salsa.

This one was a winner.

What do you use to dress your salads?

How it changes

Today I had some time to run away from work to do our weekly grocery shopping.  Bill and I really try to get all the shopping done on one weekend day-usually Sunday-and not go back and spend anymore money during the week on groceries.  It is not a perfect science but we are working on it!

Yesterday though, neither one of us were biting at the bit to go to Trader Joe’s.

Instead I looked at my work schedule and realized I could make it happen today (yay).  So we went on a fabulous hilly walk instead.

It felt good.

Anyway, back to grocery shopping today.

I realized that I am starting to shift in my eating again.  I have blogged about this before how I can not label what kind of eater I am because I eat what I crave and I tend to have shifts in those cravings.

Well today while I was shopping, I realized that I was craving less meat-like items and more fruit, grains (gf grains), and veggies……….

What about you? Do you tend to shift your eating habits around during the year or do you eat the same things/way all the time?

Weekend Snippets

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there and especially to my mom and mom in law!

Bill and I thoroughly enjoyed our cheat day yesterday.  I think he has a post formulating in his mind about it so I will let him to tell you all about the wonderful food and drinks we consumed.

And I will just give you some snippets of our day.

The best cream cheese ever! Run, don’t walk to Trader Joes and stock up.  It is that good.

The best “kit” ever.  A bike kit is the outfit you wear when you ride and I bought two the other day.  Here is one of them.

Love the hearts.

The strangest ride.  Bill broke a spoke and I got a major calf cramp that had me screaming!

Thankfully we made it back in town for coffee and good conversation.

And then Bill and I went to breakfast!

And the rest my friends is history………After breakfast we packed up the car with Pepsi in tow and headed down to Orange County to spend the afternoon with my folks.

It was a great day.

Hope you have enjoyed your weekend!
