Everything kind of day

Thank you all for your kind words on my last post.  It has been challenging for sure with many moments of ups and downs interspersed with feelings of thankfulness and peace.

Yesterday I finally went back to work but only managed a half day.  I was exhausted and honestly felt like a zombie.  So I went home and got into bed :) .  It was just what the doctor ordered and by the time Bill came home from work, I felt almost normal.

Today (Saturday) I knew I wanted a day to include all things wonderful and so far I have not been disappointed.

Coffee brought to me in bed and overnight oats.

A run…..though not as far as I hoped.  My body just isn’t ready.  But it was wonderful none the less.

Then I walked Pepsi downtown and grabbed a smoothie in a bowl from blenders (fun!). Never tried one and it was good.
Did some yard work-love to get my hands in the dirt.
And got on my beach cruiser and cruised to the beach.

Loved this…..

On my way home, grabbed my favorite indulgences an eat me raw salad from this place and a vegan smoothie.

And now I am headed to get my hair done and them Bill is taking me on a drive up the coast with no real destination picked out.

Yup it is an everything I love kind of day and I am grateful.

On again off again

Why is it that some weeks you feel like you are on FIRE and others you don’t?

Last week was one of those weeks that I felt unstopable when it came to my running and working out in general.

In fact, I ran four 7 mile runs in a row and then rode my bike 68 miles and then ran again 5 miles on Sunday.

This week-not so much.

It’s been tough and I have struggled with my mileage for 2 reasons:

  • my body has been talking to me and telling me slow down you are in pain
  • and I have not had as much motivation

So my week has looked like this so far:

  • Monday: off
  • Tuesday: 3 miles
  • Wednesday: 4.5 miles with hills
  • Thursday (today): 6 miles on the coast

  • Tomorrow I hope to run 7 miles and Saturday get in a good bike ride.

We shall see though I feel hopeful :)

Do you have on again off again weeks or is it just me?

Do you listen to your body when it is talking or do you ignore it?

Now that I am in my forties I realize I better listen or my aches will turn into injuries!

On another note, I won this book from Linda’s giveaway!

Super excited to read it this weekend.

Dealing with stress

This week things have been particularly stressful at work.  State testing is a toughy and lots of stress is involved but I thankfully have a great team to work with :)

So when things get stressful I tend to turn to a few things:

  • wine
  • chocolate
  • sleep
  • and running!
  • and some healthy snacks
Running is my number one stress reliever.  It clears my mind, refreshes my soul, and takes the edge off of all of the little concerns that should not be flooding my brain.
This week, I have been getting up a few minutes earlier than normal and busting out 7 miles.

 It has been incredible!
I come to work refreshed, recentered, and little less stressed.
And since stress tends to make me want to eat more I have been munching on this granola.
Heaven I tell you!
How do you deal with stress?
