Starting to feel like home

Bill and I moved from Reno, Nevada to Ventura, California about 5 years ago.

We left a very close-knit group of friends that we had cultivated after many years of living there and that centered around cycling.  We loved our friends and the community but eventually we ended up hating the snow and really wanted a change.

We chose heaven Ventura.

We love the weather, the outdoor options, our jobs, and the location.

And finally we feel as if we have started to make good friends like we had in Reno.  It takes a while when you get older ;)

Yesterday we got to join our cycling friends for a fun cycling themed afternoon.

What could be better than italian food, italian wine, italian bikes and friends?

of all kinds……I think Bill was smitten with this one in particular:

And of course…….friends.

We have to say we finally feel like Ventura is home :)

And the icing on the cake?  We got to walk to and from the bike shop!  That makes it even better.

Training camp part two

Good Monday morning friends!

I am happy to report that I have the next 2 weeks off :)

The first week is all about training camp and sprucing myself up and the second week is all about a vacation to Reno, Nevada with Bill to visit friends and family.

Today to start the festivities off right, I decided to try out another one of Gina’s fun breakfasts.  The breakfast cookie was such a success, I thought I would try out her cookie dough cereal.

I mixed all the goodies in a bowl.

That would be 1/3 cup GF oats, 1/2 scoop amazing grass, chia seeds, pinch of salt, cinnamon.

Then I added in a tablespoon of raw almond butter and mixed up the mess until crumbly.

Then I added in one date chopped up and half of a banana.

With almond milk!

Heaven.

Best cereal ever :)

Now I am getting ready to get out on my bike with a friend and get a facial later on.  Excited because my face needs it!

Fun Friday

Yesterday the day started out with a fun ride up the coast with two new cycling friends:

We had a great time riding together and worked really well together on the bike too-that is always a bonus :)

Then Bill’s parents showed up :)

They are on their way home to Reno, Nevada (where we used to live before we moved here) and stopped by for a visit.

We went on a walk around the neighborhood and to our favorite park:

Then we got dressed up :)   and headed downtown to the Wine Rack-our favorite place:

And then we finished off the night with some of this:

What a day.  I think I can say it was perfect :)

Today Bill is making pizza dough and we are having pizza night-can’t wait.
