TGIT

Thank god it is Thursday :)

Does anyone out there suffer from Migraines?

I used to have terrible migraines as a child.

But I seem to have out grown them up until…………………………………..LAST NIGHT :(

I woke up in the middle of the night with the WORST headache.  I stumbled to the medicine cabinet and took 4 advil-this usually does the trick.

No luck.  I was in PAIN and nauseous and sweating.

I went and laid down in the spare bedroom because poor Bill did not need to hear me moaning.

It was awful.

Still feel out of it this morning but must go to work-the little kiddies are waiting for their teacher :)

Before all this happened I made another lovely, “clean out the fridge” dinner.

Baked up some yellow squash, zucchini, sweet potatoes, an apple, and garlic cloves:

Cooked up some quinoa with some roasted corn mixed in:

All together now topped with some nuts:

It was yummy :)

On another note, I am bikeless but check out my hubby’s NEW RIDE:

Can you see why I want a new bike?

Check out the cool sticker in the front:

He came home with this beauty yesterday.  The bike is so light!

So beautiful…….

Trevor is a genius.  If you live nearby and ever want a bike stop by his shop!

Lastly, if you have not already, will you vote for me?

Have a great day lovelies!

We are almost to the weekend :)

Can We Stay?

Yesterday Bill, Pepsi and I loaded up the car at the crack of dawn to drive up to San Luis Obispo (SLO) for the Cal Poly Classic.  The Cal Poly Classic is a criterium style road race on the college campus in SLO. I had never been to SLO and was amazed at how beautiful the city and the college campus was.  Bill and I did not want to leave……Can we stay please and be college students again-pretty please?

The “tough” girls raced first.  Seriously Khrystle and Sara-you girls rock!  This was a tough race with some decent hills in it and scary tight rainy corners.

See how tough they look?

And here is Khrystle racing:

Then the boys warmed up.

Bill on his trainer:John (Sara’s Boyfriend) on his trainer:

Waiting on the starting line:

And the man behind the team and Metal Mountain bike shop-the infamous Trevor (hee hee):

Did I mention how cold it was?

Pepsi and I were freezing!

After the race, we all went to California Pizza Kitchen for lunch. I had not been to one in a while and was pleasantly surprised.

Hot tea:

And a BBQ salmon salad.  It was good!

Bill had a pizza with peppers, bacon, and goat cheese:

It was a fun day!

What college did you go to?  Did it have a beautiful campus?  Would you want to do it over again?

Failed Attempt

Well Operation Antioxidant was a complete failure.

I woke up feeling WORSE than I have felt all week.  I guess two glasses of wine does not cure a cold!

First thing I did before having my cup of coffee:

was call Mom and Dad to cancel my trip down South. Maybe tomorrow I will go.

Then I came downstairs and made myself  an amazing bowl of oats.  I think oats can make anyone feel good.  I started the oats cooking and cut up some bananas and apples:

Added them in to the mixture (oats and cinnamon):

This little one was sad none of the apples dropped to the floor:

Oh holy goodness-Look at my bowl:

I added more bananas on top, flax seed, a bit of agave, almond milk and almond butter.

Does anyone else enjoy oatmeal pics as much as I do?

If you do you MUST check out this Tribute to Oatmeal page on Kath’s Blog.

After my breakfast and shower I put on my new shirt:

Got it at my favorite Wine Bar.

and new ring:

And then headed out the door for some fresh air.  Gosh I wish I could run or ride my bike.

Pepsi and I walked around the neighborhood nice and slow and then stopped in at our favorite bike shop on the way back home.

We just got home and I made a “super cold-fighting” shake for lunch.  This is what it had in it (plus spinach):

Now I am going to sit outside in the glorious, warm sun with a cup of tea and my new book (The China Study).

Does anyone know if drinking herbal tea is as good as drinking water?

Hope you all have a great day!  Enjoy the sunny weather if you are reading from the West Coast.

Who Motivates You?

Today started out nice and early.

That is the beautiful sun rise over the Santa Ynez Mountains.

I was headed to a bike race with my husband and friend.  Here are their bikes:

My husband loves to bike race.  He races mountain bikes and road bikes and has also been known to do some cycle cross events as well.  We are very lucky and have met some very wonderful people  because of bike riding and bike racing.

Here is Sara-very sweet and very strong!

Here is Khrystle:

And let’s not forget Trevor, the man behind the team!

When I go to these events, I am especially motivated by everyone’s excitement and determination.  I look up to people who can put so much into one sport.  Not everyone can just go out and race.  It takes a lot of training, good diet, and perseverance to do well.  And even then, a little luck goes a long way!

At this point in my life, racing is not for me but I am motivated to be a better runner and be a better cyclist because of their excitement and encouragement.  I know tomorrow morning when I run, I will be thinking of my husband and how he raced today:

And how much he pushed himself.  It will make  me a better runner tomorrow!

What about you , who motivates you to push a little harder or run a little longer?

I leave you with a few parting shots.  It was a great day!

Silly Sadie:

Beautiful scenery:

When in the wine country……pick up some good, organic Syrah!

Delicious!
