Sometimes being unmotivated leads to greatness

Yesterday I woke up feeling a bit unmotivated and sore due to my Brick workout on Saturday.

Bill left bright and early on the group ride and I mulled around the house a bit.  I knew that if I got my running clothes on I would be golden.  I really wanted to get out and get a long run in.

So I turned to my trusty Lululemon clothes to get me feeling good.

Nothing like a cute outfit to help with motivation.

Works every time!

I ended up getting in 10 miles and I felt pretty good.  I tried not to focus on speed and just cruise.

Today after this wonderful cup of joe and this fabulous vegan oats Bill made us (recipe to come!) we are off to conquer some more miles.

Lately, I have been averaging about 35 miles of running a week with one decent bike ride thrown in.  I have been feeling good :)

How have you been feeling on your workouts?

Anything fun planned for your memorial day?

We are lying low and enjoying the good weather.

On a side not, if this old bloggy goes dormant today, it is because she is finally getting her face lift!  Emily at Emily White Designs has been the working genius behind the scenes. Hope you like the new look when it pops up!

Also, if you are subscribed to my blog, you may have to resubscribe when the new site goes into effect.

Happy Memorial Day friends!

WOD at Lululemon

This morning started with a walk downtown to Starbucks with Pepsi.

And then I ventured out of my comfort zone and took a free class at the local Lululemon store in Palm Desert.

They were offering a free Crossfit class put on by the local Box.

I have to admit I have been  torn between feeling like I have heard enough about WODS and Boxes and Crossfit and slightly intrigued.  So I am happy to say I finally put on my big girl panties and gave it a try. Plus I promised myself some new Lululemon clothes once we were finished.

We did a quick warm-up and then hit up our WOD (work out for the day).

Let me tell you this was not easy!

What I liked about Crossfit:

  • you worked in teams
  • people cheered you on
  • fun atmosphere
  • quick

What I did not like about Crossfit:

  • how hard it was :)

I am definitely going to give this Crossfit a try in Ventura.  I definitely think I need some toning.  Even though running has been good to me, I feel like my 42-year-old body could benefit with some strengthening work.  Crossfit really worked my core which I like.

Once I was finished I shopped and all was right in the world :)  Oh and then I wore my new skirt and did a 3 mile run.

Have you tried Crossfit yet?  Would you want to?

Last tidbits

Yesterday before the reality of our mini vacation ending, Bill and I ventured on an easy 4 miler.

He was sporting his new Lululemon shorts and tank.

I think he finally gets my addiction to Lulu!

And I was sporting my favorite running skirt.

A little while back Sarah from Skinny Runner wrote a post about running skirts and how she sometimes prefers tennis skirts to run in.  I think I agree.  To me the Lulu skirts are too heavy and this is just perfect.

It also helps that my mom in law designed it and that it has swarovski crystals on it for a bit of bling :)

Once our four miler was up.  We got ready and made the trek home.

Hate when vacations end :(

This week my goal for running is to take it easy and run what feels right to me.  Lately, I have been putting way too much pressure on myself to continue to hit 30 -35 mile running weeks and I have kind of noticed I am loosing some of the joy for running.

I realize you can’t compare yourself to others when it comes to running.  You need to find what works for you and listen to your body.  I have a feeling if I kept up the miles just because-I would be playing with injury again.

Have you experienced this?

Hope you have a great Monday.  I am off to tackle large laundry piles!
