Sister Day

Thank you for all of your Birthday wishes!  It was so fun reading the comments  throughout our Sister Day.

It was also fun to read how many other March Birthdays there are :)

We had what I would consider a perfect day.

We went shopping:

Had a delicious lunch:

We sat outside on these very comfy couches and ate. It was so relaxing.

The food was delicious.

Started with the hummus trio:

Then shared this amazing grilled artichoke.  It was so good you didn’t even need the sauce it came with:

And then we had the blackened shrimp.  I have never had such juicy shrimp.  These were to die for!

Of course the server surprised us with a piece of birthday cake.

I LOVE cake!

I was a good girl and only ate about 1/4.  I really wanted to eat the whole thing but I knew I would be stuffed.

After lunch we made a quick stop at Whole Foods.

Love me some Kombucha! A Birthday treat because they are SO expensive :)

And then my sis treated us to manicures:

Finally we met the boys for dinner:

Not the best picture of us :(

More cake!

I t was a great day!

Thanks Sister!

And thanks to all of my friends who made it special for me.  All of the emails, texts, and comments made my day :)

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

Time for a Green Monster with lots of Spinach and NO chocolate.

A Revelation

Last night while I was looking up my results for the 5K I completed yesterday I had a revelation.

This was the last race I would do as  a “thirty something” girl.

Yikes…….

The Big 4 0 is looming on the horizon and fast approaching.

I know my blog is called Fit and Forty Something and you might be thinking, “Hey I thought she was forty!”

Well I created this blog on January 1 to help me get used to the idea that I was soon to be (sooner rather than later) a forty something gal.  I was hoping this blog would make the  transition to being forty a little less painful.

This Friday is the BIG DAY when I finally put on my big boy pants and face the world as an adult.

Yes this Friday is my 40th Birthday-gulp.

No more “thirty something” races.  The next race I do will be as my forty-year old self.

I think I am ready……..

Back to the race:

I got 6th place and my official time was 25:24!!!

I can assure you that was not me-I have never run that fast.

Or maybe it was me running away from the Big 4 0!

What birthdays have been significant for you and why?

On to some food:

We had a great Curried Lentil dish made with onions, garlic, tomatoes, light coconut milk, lentils, and curry.  I will post the recipe soon.

I served it in half a butternut squash and topped it with Brussel sprouts and cashews:

It was delicious!

Have a great Monday my friends : )

A Surprise Celebration

Saturday turned out to be a day of Fitness, Fun and Food!  Perfect if you ask me.

Of course how can you go wrong when you start with chocolate pancakes?

Terri and I enjoyed a wonderful ride.  It started off cold but once we got away from the ocean and into the hills it was perfect.

A mid-way treat.  Cranberry, walnut muffin and tea:

After the ride, My husband and I had lunch with some friends at an outdoor café.  Unfortunately no pictures were taken but I did have a yummy turkey and bacon wrap.  We also shared probably the best chips and salsa I ever had.  Nice think, crunchy chips-mmmmm.  Thank you for coming to our neighborhood, Ann and Dave!

Then the surprise occurred!  We found out it was Terr’is birthday and celebrated at a small italian restaurant.  What could be better?  Good friends, good conversation, and lots of good food………….

Here is the evidence (sorry for the bad lighting):

Thank you friends for such an enjoyable day.

Today is all about detoxification!  I foresee a sweaty run in my future and a green monster shake.

Hope you have a great Sunday!
