Smoothies and Moms

Today is my favorite day of the week!

Of course I love it because it signals the end of the work week but also because it is Smoothie Friday :)

On Smoothie Friday I make sure to either stop somewhere fun or make an extra good smoothie from my own kitchen.

Today I will make one with amazing grass, frozen fruit, a banana, and lots of spinach-YUM!

Will you have a smoothie?  How will you make yours?

Speaking of Smoothie Friday-my favorite Smoothie Friday girls’ wedding shower was last night.

She was so cute:

We had a great turnout from the staff-she is well-loved.

I will miss her because once the school year is over, she is moving to Hawaii with her future husband :(

I know she will love it though :)

So on to our Mom’s.

As we know this Sunday is Mother’s Day what do you have planned?

I know one mom who is doing a rockin Half Marathon that day!  Go Marcia-you will do great :)

So the winner of my Turtle Mountain Giveaway is…………..

Number 32 is:

Ashlei from The Vegster!

Ashlei is such a doll.  If you have not been to her blog or her boyfriends-you need to check them both out.  Such a cute couple :)

Hope you all have a lovely Friday-this week has been crazy busy for me.  So looking forward to the end of the day!

Khrystle and I are gonna meet up later and do some sort of rope workout-I’m scared :(

Happy Friday and thanks for reading!

I Must Be Crazy

Right now I am suiting up for a duathlon of all things.

I am still wondering how I got to be in this situation?

Maybe my crazy Jillian-like trainer had something to do with this?

So here I am sitting in my bike shorts and a running tank-strange combination if you ask me.

Waiting for Khrystle to pick me up.

A couple of things you may not know about me:

  1. A am not a night person.  The most I can do at 6pm is drink wine and eat dinner.
  2. I have only done one duathlon in my life and I was 20 something.
  3. Now I am forty something and should not be getting ready to run, bike, and run again.

Oh boy……..I will let you know how this goes :)

Some highlights of my day though were getting these two things in the mail:

Oh I have missed my amazing grass!

Can’t wait to put it in my shake tomorrow morning.

Have a great night and wish me luck :)

Have you ever done a duathlon?

Don’t forget to enter my giveaway…….

I will announce the winner Friday morning :)

Favorite Things in the Kitchen

Tonight I thought it would be fun to mention some of my favorite things in my kitchen.

Maybe once you see my list you might be able to share with me some of your favorites too.

Here we go.

First up my favorite cookbook:

So love Giada!  Pretty much everything she makes is easy and no fail.  And everything I have tried either from her show or from this cookbook has been great.

Hummus-really any kind will do:

At our house, we pretty much put this on EVERYTHING!  So far the only thing I have not paired it with is chocolate.

Awwww Almond Milk:

So delicious in shakes, cereal, baking and even coffee (though not as thick as soy creamer).

Awwwwww Almond butter (swoon):

If I could jump in the jar I would!

Of course this super star cannot be missed:

And last but not least………….

My all time favorite tea:

I was reading a blog this morning that mentioned now they have Tazo in loose-leaf form?

Darn it I can’t remember whose blog it was!

Hope you had a great Tuesday!

And hope to hear about your favorites too.

Probiotics Nay or Yay?

I have taken probiotics for about 2 years now.  I have always been SUPER confused about what brand to buy and how many to take per day.

Probiotics are a type of living bacteria that actually benefit your health when taken in the right amounts.

Probiotics are known to help with many things.  Specifically these bacteria (in the probiotics) act as balancing agents for bacteria such as Candida or E. coli. When the “good-guys” are not present enough, a number of bacteria-related health problems such as digestive upset, headaches, sluggishness, irritability, candidiasis (an overgrowth of the bacteria Candida albicans), and even anxiety can ensue.

I had no idea an imbalance could contribute to anxiety?  Did you?

I started taking probiotics for two main reasons:

  • overgrowth of candida
  • possible immune system booster (being a teacher leaves me VERY vulnerable)

I was always unsure which pills to buy and just recently starting buying a cheap Trader Joe versions.  I have a feeling this was NOT a quality supplement.

Now I take probiotics in two forms:

  • my beloved amazing grass and
  • this new version I got from my doctor last Friday:

I think I like them.

I think I “feel” them working.

What about you?  Do you take probiotics? Why or why not? And what kind do you recommend?
