Last week Bill and I picked up a bag of oat groats.
This morning while we were walking this little gal to the groomers we decided to get them cooking and hope they are perfect upon our return.
Oat groats are a denser version of steel-cut oats and they take longer to cook. Our walk was about 40 minutes.
When we came back the groats were perfect.
Loved how chewy and hearty they tasted!
We cooked them up with a cut up apple, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, water and a tad of vanilla.
Delicious topped with homemade preserves, almond butter and a homemade biscotti.
Now I am ready to run.
My plan is to do 5 miles with Marianna and then go out alone for a bit more. I will see how I feel.
Thinking of my next half. Has anyway done the LA Half Marathon?
Looks like fun!

I’ve never tried groats. Love that you’re thinking ahead to your next half!
