Most fun you can have with your clothes on

Note to self:

Come into a race with tired legs, 1 day hung over, and hydrated with red wine.

Got it self!

This morning I raced the Santa to the Sea half marathon.

It is a great race considering it is only their 4th year in action.

For me this was my second half ever.  My last being a treacherous hilly trail half when I was in my 20′s.  It was not done for speed rather than survival.

Today was much better…….

We lined up in corrals.  My dream was to post a 2 hour time but I was unsure if it would happen.  So I got into the 2 hr to 2:10 corral area.

Lots of festive spirit to be had.  Lots of costumes. Music and feeds every 2 miles.  Very well-organized!

And I felt great.  Still I kept looking at my garmin just to make sure I would not burn myself out.  I caught up to and ran with the 2 hr pacer.  She was great!

Then a fellow blog reader caught up with me :)  What an awesome surprise……Kristina and I talked for a while but at about mile 7 I knew I had to run (literally) to the bathroom-so we separated.

The rest of the race was a blur-actually the whole race was.  A blur of music, people cheering, me feeling good and SO VERY thankful to be out running and feeling great while keeping my 9 minute mile pace.

I kept waiting to hit a wall that never came.

It was glorious!

I have to say I enjoyed ever single step.  And I crossed the finish line in 1:57 (unofficial).

What a race :)  And a PR for me.

Now I am drinking this:

And munching on leftover kale salad, kabocha squash, and a piece of gf toast:

May have to go get seconds……

Sorry for the lack of race photos-I went to the event by myself and did now want to carry anything extra with me.  I suspect I will be able to find some official photos online soon with my official time.

I am also sure in every photo I will have a big goofy grin.  I was loving it!
