Am I Eating 500 Calories a Day?

Many of you have asked me if I am only eating 500 calories a day on my hcg diet experiment.

Well first I want to share with you what I am eating and then tell you the answer!  I am sneaky like that ;)

What I am eating is tons of fruits.  Specifically apples, oranges, grapefruits and strawberries.

I am also eating bread sticks.

I am drinking coffee with no creamer though you can have up to a tablespoon of milk a day.

And I am eating tons of veggies!

Especially wonderful farmers market tomatoes.

Look at my fridge-veggies have invaded:

And lastly, I am eating lots of salads for lunch and dinner with 4 oz of lean protein on top.

Here is a good one I made last night.

My base of lettuce, cucumbers, red peppers and onion:

With my added 4 oz of chicken:

And then I made a fabulous no sugar salad dressing with these ingredients:

Served with a breadstick…….Delicious!

You have got to whip up that salad dressing.  It is good!

Now to answer your question about the 500 calories.  I honestly do not know how many calories I am eating a day.  I have not counted one single one.  I do know that I feel great and have lost 9 pounds already.

I am looking at this as a 21 day diet and then stick to the same regime but add in healthy fats and some low glycemic carbs after the 21 days is up.  Oh yes, and I will have me a glass of wine too-can’t wait!

Keep us posted. I had a friend who did the hcg diet and seriously when she finished if she even ate 1/2 a cracker she would gain 3 pounds the next day. It really wrecked her metabolism and she followed it all to a tee. Lost 25 pounds and sadly gained it all back plus about 10 more without doing anything wrong. Once she introduced grains and starches (like sweet potatoes and winter squashes, brown rice, quinoa and even starchier fruits like bananas) it all came pooring back on. I sincerely hope this isn’t the case for you but I just want you to be careful!!

  2. yes, keep us posted. I bet that wine will taste even better, hehe!

  3. Very interesting, can’t wait to hear more about this diet and how you feel.

I don’t even know if I could make it for one day… talk about willpower!!

  7. hi its me again!:)… now I thought the diet says only 2 peices of fruit a day.. and very specific ones. are you still having your apple for breakfast? what happens when you get starving in between a meal? are you eating other fruits besides what is listed?
Did you do the two front loading days?? Can I drive you crazy with questions??
I am being super nosey as I am waiting for my drops to arrive and am excited and scared (of failing due to hunger)… any helpful hints would be mucho appreciated!
    xx

  8. Yikes, so…you are doing the hCG diet? I mean, if you are only eating 500 calories, which is almost impossible to do without starving, you must be doing something…right? High, high protein? I want to know. I won’t judge! :)

Question, what’s so special about hose liquid aminos? I’ve had people ask me about them and I don’t see the difference between that and soy sauce, other than the fact that they are gluten free.

Hi Honey, I’m so proud of you. I know this 21 day program has taken lots of courage and determination. As we both go through this journey together, it’s interesting how our views on food start to change. It’s wonderful and powerful, keep it going. I can’t wait until May 7th, cheat day!

I’ll have one of those salads thanks!

I am going to have to give that dressing a try! I hate how hard it is to find one, a sugar less dressing, or two, one that is not full of fat.

    good for you!

  12. Interesting but I’d be SO hungry… I love the act of eating. ;)

    Good luck!

  13. Good luck Kalli!!! keep it up if you’re feeling good. (and you seem to be!)
