A Complete Turnaround

I know I have mentioned before how proud I am of my sister because she made a complete turnaround with her health.  Today I wanted to share with you a bit about her story.

About three years ago, she was at her heaviest weight and started to suffer from gall bladder problems.  In fact, her doctor said she needed surgery to get her gall bladder removed because she was having frequent gall bladder attacks.

This is a picture of me, my sis, and our friend Sherrill three years ago, December.

My sis knew she didn’t want surgery so she started researching all things about the gallbladder and found the gallbladder diet.  That diet eventually morphed into how she eats now which is a high raw, vegetarian diet with a bit of salmon thrown in.

She has transformed herself with  good, high quality food.  A testament to all us bloggies who know good, whole foods are what keep us ticking!  She did not count calories, fat grams, protein.  And she did not resort to weight loss surgery.  She has lost a total of 110 pounds over the course of three years.  And she just glows.

Check out these amazing pictures we took on Friday.  The jeans that are huge on her now are the jeans in the photo above from 3 years ago-crazy!

Amazing huh?!

Do you know someone who has made a complete turnaround in one aspect of their life?

Sooo AWESOME. I lost 57 lbs (which is now more like…45 pounds after a child) in 2002, truly my low weight was too low. It’s hard to lose it and even harder to maintain it. Kudos to your sis!

  2. Wow, wow, wow! I’m so impressed! She must feel amazing!

  3. WOW!! Your sister looks fantastic! Good for her!! I love the before and after pics… very impressive! ANd I like her new diet and how she did it. Very cool. :)

I turned my life around in the past 4 years. I have lost between 60-70 lbs and have kept it off for over 3 years. I still have a way to go before my goal, but I am satisfied with keeping it off, going slowly and being at peace with food.

  4. I know you’ve talked about her weight loss before, and I am just in awe of her. She is a true inspiration. I know you must be so incredibly proud of her. Just awesome.

That is a true inspiration, I am so happy for your sister:))))

  7. Joanne says:

That is one fantastic journey your sister took to good health.
It’s so very hard for anyone who has a tendency to gain weight to first, be able to lose excess weight and second, to keep it off. Anyone who has achieved the success your sister has is a role model for anyone else.

  8. Matt says:

    Seriously amazing!

Tell your sister she looks great! It makes me so so happy when people turn their health around for the better.

  9. Kathleen says:

How wonderful for her! Wish I would have known that about the gallbladder diet 16 years ago. Having my son caused my body to get hundreds of stones and it was so bad that as soon as i went in to see the doc they scheduled me in for surgery to have it removed.

  10. Tracy says:

Amazing and inspirational! Most of the people I know who made a transformative life change needed to start from the inside…and then work out. Congrats to your sister!!!

  11. Lori says:

Amazing! The best and most wonderful part is the keeping it off. So much more important than the loss itself. It really shows dedication to a new and healthy lifestyle!

  12. Cindy says:

good for your SISTER and LOOK at her!

I’m on a diet backlash right now…it always happens at the end of winter. As soon as spring or summer hits POP I’m all into eating better.

    wierd.

I developed gallstones when I was pregnant with the toddler and was told I had to have surgery. I also changed what I ate, and so far things are going well.
