Feeling Strong

Happy 1st day of July!  Isn’t July a wonderful month?

Yesterday we had quite the busy day.

We dropped off Melanie and Dave at the train station so they could get to the airport and fly to France.

We will miss them!

Then we got into a little accident :(   But we are okay and the car is not as bad off as we thought.

We then thought a trip to Whole Foods for a few things might brighten our spirits.

And it did except where is the Kombucha?  Did they really take it off the shelves due to the alcohol content?  Are you kidding me?

But we still got some fun things:

We walked two dogs and then came home for a fast and easy dinner.

A bagel thin spread with hummus, laugh cow cheese and topped with leftover steamed veggies and almond slices.  Weird but good.

This morning I am headed out on the group ride.  It appears that some of my “training” has been paying off.  I have been feeling strong on my bike.  I hope I feel strong on Sunday for my 5K.  Running is definitely my harder discipline.

What about you?  Do you find that some sports are easier for you than others?

I definitely feel like cycling comes easier to me when I train than running.

Hope you have a great day!

It appears like June gloom may have left to allow July to take over…..Yay for sun!

Remember one more day to enter my tea giveaway!

  1. I don’t know if anything really comes easy to me. I’m just stubborn. I like some things better than others…swimming is *very* hard, running is *pretty* hard, and cycling is just hard.

Volleyball, now that’s my sport. Despite being vertically challenged, I took to it like a duck to water. Defense!!

  2. this kombucha thing is hurting my insides! where is it now? where can we get it!

  3. Cheers to sunshine! Glad to hear you guys are ok after the accident!!!! I guess the only true sport I do is running. Not sure people would consider step aerobics and kickboxing (DVDs) a real sport.

  4. some days some exercises are easier than others. that’s a mouthful. I just have to keep my larger goals in mind and remember i WANT to workout.

  5. Looks like some great buys! Glad the GLOOM is gone!

  6. Running for me has always been the hardest, even before I killed my knees. And group fitness classes are near impossible. All that coordination is way out of my league!

  7. I definately think I am a stonger rider than a runner. Well I really dislike running.

  8. I’m sorry to hear about the accident… Glad to hear that everyone is ok, though!

  9. I think I’m a stronger runner than rider-just the opposite of you! I am in kombucha withdrawals!!

  10. greensandjeans

Like you, cycling has always come easy to me. Even though I haven’t been on my bike in FAR too long I know I could go out for a 40 mile ride without a problem!

  11. Glad to hear everyone is ok from the accident-never fun! Looks like
    some good eats from WF!

  12. Happy Canada Day from the Canadian blogger :-)

I am sorry to hear about the little car accident! It’s never good for the nerves so I hope you are good now!

I find the elliptical so much easier than running so I often use that machine on my running rest days to ensure I get exercise in AND I LOVE to walk. I know that walking is exercise but to me it is enjoyment so you can’t ask for anything more.

  13. I am definitely not a swimmer but I love cycling and running. I think it’s the fact that I can’t breathe whenever I want to when I swim.

  14. what a nice day (minus the accident)..sorry about that!

we are still getting the gloom…ICK.

(well, not at home, but at work).
and since I’ve been adding in circuit work, running seems easy. and less painful. I like to mix it up now.
so happy your feeling stronger! that feeling rocks!

  15. Oh no, sorry bout your accident!
I heard that about the kombucha too; I had to laugh.
I bought some of that Tempt hemp milk recently, but haven’t tried it yet :]

  16. Hope you are OK and the boo boo on the car is a quick fix. Glad it didn’t wreck your day, the right attitude to have.

pffft, anything is easier than swimming. I could be a professional gymnast in better time than a swimmer, lol.

  17. Sorry about the accident! But I am so glad you are OKAY!

  18. I’m so happy you guys are okay. How scary. I found that tennis was way easier for me than softball. I’m not sure why. I loved it from the first time I played.

  19. Oh no, I’m sorry to hear about your accident! I’m glad you guys are ok though!

  20. I am so much better at any sport that does NOT involve hand-eye coordination or aggression. I like endurance events and other races because you can run to compete, or run for fun and for your own PR.

why can’t I locate Zen bakery items near me even though they say on their site that they sell them here. Enjoy a muffin for me

  21. Sorry to hear about you’re accident! I think I’m the opposite. It takes me a lot longer to get into cycling shape than it does running shape. Maybe it’s because I only bike a few months out of the year and never really get into good cycling shape.

  22. I’m so sorry about your accident! I’m glad it wasn’t anything major. Honestly, I am not a naturally athletic person so I feel I have to work at running and strength training. And I don’t know how to ride a bike. :(

  23. Sorry to hear about the accident! Hope your car is okay.

I find biking is sooooo much easier for me than running. Always has been. Seems to be harder now after herniating my back, too.

  24. Sorry to hear about your wreck :( I am really glad you are ok! That is what is important!

  25. Running is the hands down hardest sport for me. For the first time I ran an entire mile and didn’t feel like I wanted to die. Haha. Progress! Looks like I need to pick up my pace a little, however!

  26. Everywhere is pulling the Kombucha from the shelves!! For now I can still find it but I keep expecting it to be gone whenever I go to the store. Cross-training has helped my running lately and that’s great that it’s helping your cycling! :) Have a great day!!

  27. Eek – sorry about the car accident – glad it wasn’t something serious! I really like the vanilla hemp, but our local organic store makes you buy it a case at a time! :(

  28. Sorry about the accident! That sucks about kombucha, I wasn’t thrilled to see that last week either. But I guess it saves me some $$$. Running is harder, I’ve noticed fitness improvements elsewhere since I picked it up.

  29. Hope you’re having a great day and enjoying the sunshine. That was John and I that were yelling you’re name today as you rode by…you looked very focused!

  30. ya, its crazy! THe kombucha thing is just a labeling issue. Some were a little over 0.5% but thats due to them sitting on the shelves at room temp. More fermentation. I hope they resolve it soon!
I love running and cycling. I used to be a stronger ride but right now I think I am a better runner. It varies with the seasons. haha!

  31. P.S.

SO GLAD your okay. Crashes are scary….big or small!

  32. I love July! Always reminds me of BBQs and the beach : )

I’m not good at sports- haha I was always a dancer which is why I love ballet and yoga instead of running!

  33. Yup, natural born runner, but I look like a fish out of the water in a pool haha.

  34. its crazy bc i can run and do cardio so easily–but swimming.. A WHOLE DIFF STORY!! I can hardly swim one lap! hah!

  35. yes, they really did take it off. the FDA is now possibly getting involved b/c it’s a $300Million dol a year biz and they want a piece of it, i presume. There is more alcohol in vanilla extract than kombucha! but whatever. That’s why i am making my own. We will need to meetup so i can give you a scoby so u can make your own too. It’s EASY!

  36. That’s so awesome you feel stronger, all your hard work pays off! Whole Foods, or any food shopping always brighten my spirits haha. Sorry you can’t find kombucha, hopefully it will be back soon!

  37. I am so not a runner, but I am envious of those that do. I’m with you…biking is just my thing!

    Enjoy your weekend, sunshine!

  38. Running has always been my weakness….I have been doing triathlons and it was the thing I feared most always. It is interesting what injuries do to you. I have a back injury that makes biking just painful so….that may have won out. Wouldn’t it be nice just to be great at everything….lol…one day. who knows!

  39. oh no, so sorry to hear about the accident but I’m glad everyone’s ok!

  40. glad you’re ok after your accident! be careful though. my minor fender bender three months ago seems to definitely be a factor in this injury i’m dealing with. take it easy and listen to any new little aches and pains that may arise.

running is definitely my preferred activity. i can’t say it comes “naturally” but i’ve come to love it and need it for both my physical and mental well being. i enjoy riding and swimming as well but neither seem to allow me the same ability to just get lost in my thoughts
