We Were Not Convinced

Bill and I have been together now almost 7 years.

When we first met, we had both just gotten out of some bad relationships.

I from a bad marriage and even worse divorce.

He from a bad relationship almost just has toxic as my marriage.

We both said we would never get married.

We have been in a very happy and healthy relationship since then.

We were not convinced marriage would make things better for us and we might have been scared that marriage may make things worse.

Why change something that is working so well?

Well last December, we ran off like silly birds to the local court house and got married.

I know…..kinda crazy!

And fun :)

And romantic.

So this summer, Bill’s parents are throwing us a reception at their home in Reno, Nevada.

Yesterday we got our fun invites:

We can’t wait!

It should be a lot of fun :)

So to celebrate our fun I thought I would throw in a giveaway!

But first last nights dinner:

Is it weird that I love avocado on pasta?

So this giveaway today is for these Turtle Mountain So Delicious coupons:

If you would like to win these today just tell me a bit about your “love story.”  I would love to hear about it :) I will announce the winner tomorrow morning!

Happy Thursday!

This week is flying by……..

Tonight is Nutrition Club :)

  1. How fun, so nice of them.

  2. wow, i’d write and tell you about my story, however, it’s identical to yours! i had been married before and had gotten out of a horrendous relationship just before/he swore he’d never be married ever and so did i. for some reason, we decided 3 years ago that we would, we went to the courthouse, IN DECEMBER!!!!

  3. That is such a great story!

Mike and I met in the Navy. He proposed at his parent’s cabin. We’d gone for a midnight swim to the float in the lake and were sitting under the stars. At least, I thin there were stars. I’m truly blind without my glasses. After he proposed we both felt kinda like throwing up, so we didn’t tell anyone for a week (when I was back home and he was still visiting his parents. They drank champagne without me).

That was 15 years ago. We’ve been married almost 14 years.

  4. Ahhh! Congratulations and enjoy the celebration!

    No love story here…yet! ;-)

  5. I love your story. It gives so many people there is happiness to be had and everyone deserves that in their lives. You and Bill look like such a great couple and I’m so happy you found each other. I met my husband through work 10 years ago after getting over a bad breakup for me. We’re celebrating our two year wedding anniversary this November.

  6. How fun! You guys seem like such a happy couple!

  7. Aww, how fun! My love story is not very exciting… we met at a bar and got married 4 1/2 years later! And I don’t think it’s weird to eat avocado on pasta ;-)

  8. Sweet Story! You two always look so happy!
Jose and I meet at work. We worked together for over two months and never noticed each other. Until one day I was walking towards him and almost in slow motion he looked up, pointed at me, we made eye contact and it was love at first sight! Within a few days we had our first date and two weeks after that Jose asked me to marry him. He likes to say he would have asked me to marry him on our first date, but thought I would have said he was crazy! He’s right – I might have said that, but think I still would have said yes! We were married less than a year later at the cross (Grant Park) in beautiful Ventura. We are coming up to our 10 year anniversary this August.

  9. I was just in Reno for a conference this past October. How fun!

We met years ago while working together, and he was actually the manager and wouldn’t hire me to be a server at the beginning (just a hostess). Luckily the other manager stepped in and hired me, and I still give him a hard time to this day about it.

  10. Awwww. I’m so glad you are happy! :) You know my love story … too well. I like to tell myself that if I could go back in time and change everything, I wouldn’t. Why? Because I wouldn’t be where I’m at right now and I am very happy today.

  11. wowzers lady…what a sweet story! love that!

my hubs and I had both been in AWEFUL I say marriages before and we’d known of each other for i’d say 17 years thru work…he was always that very nice, sweet and considerate man who came in to handle paperwork .

we “met” officially at DMV both paying our registration on the very last day and walked in without an appointment. it was fate.
we’ve been attached at the hip ever since. We just celebrated our 7th in Feb.

i SWEAR I ate the exact same dinner last night and if I’d been any more energetic I would have sliced an avo on mine too. as a matter of fact I had one out but didn’t feel like washing a knife. HONEST!

love your invites! they are so hip! you look so relaxed and happy (well, you both do)
congrats and I am sure you will have a great party.

  12. That ia a great story…happiness wins! I love it! That picture of you too is ADORABLE! You are both so attractive and compliment one another very well! :) Oh lala!

  13. Awe I love love! Your save-the-dates are cute! So modern and simple, I love it!

I met my hubby when we were sophomores in college. Neither of us had any serious relationships prior to our meeting. We clicked instantly because we are so similar in our morals and attitudes. We dated through college and got engaged before we moved in together. Our wedding was a beautiful but small event at a local winery overlooking the valley.

Now we’ve been married almost 2 years (together almost 7 years total). I love being married. It’s changed our relationship (and me) for the better :D

  14. Congrats to you!

I love telling my love story…We met through work. I was in Sales and he was the Customer. I did not like him when he was in our sales meeting because of his negative and confrontational attitude. A group of us went to lunch afterwards and he talked about his family and how he grew up and I thought “wow, I kind of like this guy”. I called my best friend on my drive home from the meeting and told her I just met the man I should marry. I meant because he filled my “checklist” perfectly…even with the rocky start :) . Well about a year later we ended up dating and now we just celebrated 6 years of marriage…

  15. I don’t really have a “love” story, since I don’t think I have ever been in love (yet). I hope I can still enter!

Avocado and pasta sounds delicious ;)

  16. That’s so sweet!
It’s funny how you always say you’ll never do something, but them someone comes along and changes your life.

  17. I don’t have any super sweet romantic stories, but I met an ex at pole vault camp. We exchanged probably about 3 words to each other during the entire camp. He even said that when he saw me drive away he took off his shirt just to impress me. Oh silly high school boys. We later got in contact over facebook and went on some really great dates over the summer!

  18. that’s beautiful! congrats! my love story is taking time to build myself up so that the man that catches me is one lucky b–. :)

  19. I love your invite! And the new layout! And I love So Delicious. Our love story? Hmm. Well, the weekend before I started college I was already on campus for orientation. It was Friday night and I had nothing to do, so I asked this girl I had just met at orientation if she wanted to hang out. She thought we should go to some frat parties. I was hesitant, but went. And I randomly ran in to Steven! Someone drug him there too! We chatted and he later asked me for my number. He called me the next day! Aww :)

  20. I love it! How fun on the reception too. My hubby and I grew up in the same town b/ different schools. I knew his sister but not him. Didn’t meet him until a party that I went to with my sis (she was dating his friend) and another friend. I swore to never date another Jason again and our friend told me “Just stay away from him, you get whoever you want anyway, and I like him.” Ok, fine. And 15 years later, we’re still together.

We actually lived together 5 years before getting married. We celebrate 10 years in August.

  21. Aww Kalli I love it!!! I am so happy you both found each other, you both look so happy and in love!! That is just what you deserve!

My love story began over 3 years ago when I was dating somebody else. At the time I had a terribly immature boyfriend who treated me like crap! Although we had been high school sweethearts, going to college changed everything :( He constantly pushed me away but I refused to let him go…. that is until I met Rusty. I met Rusty at one of the college parties I went to by myself because my boyfriend was too busy doing other things without me. Rusty was so sweet and nice to me. We became really close friends and he always had such great ways of making me feel special. I ended things with my boyfriend on 4/20, on his favorite holiday, haha! Rusty and I remained friends and five months later began dating. We have been together for about three years and I have no complaints! He has been my rock throughout college, and I don’t know what I would do without him :)

  22. That is a sweet story!

My husband and I met at grad school. We lived together for a few years before getting married. It’s funny, because I kept my name when we got married and my grandfather said it was like we were just living together LOL. Well, we were and still are living together :D

  23. Congrats! Ya know I strongly believe that great couples look good together. You and your hubby are ADORABLE! You actually look a little bit alike!! I love it and I LOVE love!! Sounds like your reception will be SO much fun!!
    My love story:
Brandon and I met in 2005 at a party at his house. I actually was supposed to go on a date that night with someone else but he conveniently had ANOTHER date! I was crushed and did not even want to go out! My roommate at the time convinced me that I had to! She said, “Josh (her boyfriend) has a lot of single friends!!” In walks Brandon.
I can remember clear as day that he was sitting at the kitchen counter when I walked in and I immediately thought he was so cute but SHORT! haha. However, we bumped in to each other later in the night and could not stop talking. He asked me on a date the very next day! Within one week we kept saying “why do we like each other so much??” We literally had an instant connection. We got engaged 2 1/2 years later and were married on Oct. 10th of last year! Love love love.

  24. This story melts my heart! I love that you and Bill found each other! <3
    XOXO

  25. Yay!!! Sounds like you two are great for each other, that’s the best kind of relationship.

  26. congrats! what an adorable story!

  27. How fun! You just know when you are with the right person and it just clicks! This is you and Bill….so sweet.

Ryan and I were great friends before we started dating. I had NO idea he liked me when we were 16 *sigh* and I was in a not so fun relationship from 18-21 and Ryan and I lost touch. Out of no where he called asking to take me out for lunch….I saw him in a whole different light, broke up with my crazy ex bf and ta da Ryan and Kris as a couple was born. We have lived together ever since.

    What a great giveaway!

    XXOO

  28. my hubby and i met in college, our junior year. he cheated on his girlfriend who was in paris with me. i was convinced the first 2 years that he would cheat on me too. but it’s been 13 years; i think i can trust him.

  29. Sweet…I love “how we met” stories. I don’t have one to share though, yet!

  30. Before meeting Matt I was in a relationship with a bad ending – I moved to go to pharmacy school and he knew months in advance I was planning this and was fine with it until a couple months before I actually did, and then told me he wasn’t really interested in coming to TN. Just the way it happened was horrible and I didn’t think I’d find anybody else or want to find anybody else. When I moved to TN for school I got asked out a couple times but by people I wasn’t interested in and didn’t have much in common with. The goal of dating is to find someone to be with, so this person would have to be fit, active, healthy, enjoy cooking, as well as being physically attractive and fun, and make me laugh (and so on! I’ll stop listing stuff. lol). I eventually started talking to Tyler who was blog friends with Matt. Matt started reading my blog because Tyler mentioned me on the blog. I started reading Matt’s, then we started talking on twitter, then facebook, and eventually arranged a meet-up and hit it off. I guess the rest is history! I’ve never had anybody want to make a relationship work with me as much as he does, or try as hard, or to want to be with me as much as he does, even though it’s so so hard doing the long distance thing since we don’t get to see each other and can’t plan spur of the moment things like most couples. We’re crazy about each other, always have a great time together, and have a ton in common :) It’s really a great foundation to a great relationship.

  31. Cute story. I’ve been with my hubby for over 12 years, we met while working at a computer shop and I was not interested in a relationship at the time having just been burned by one. So I treated him like a good friend and things grew.

Like you, we’ve only been married less than a year. No exact reason for the delay, we wanted to be 100% on the kid decision and other future goals. We eloped to Vegas and I wouldn’t change that, never dreamed of a huge fairytale wedding and have been part of enough big weddings to know that wasn’t for us.

  32. I have currently been with my boyfriend for 7 years. we met 20 years ago and it was instant love for me,..He was married, I moved away got married had kids got divorced.. ran into him, he was single here we are!!!

  33. How did I miss this giveaway?! Bummer.
Well, congrats to you and Bill. Ted and I will be together 10 yrs. We met…where else?….in a gym.

  34. I would probably eat avocado in anything, pasta included! YUM!

  35. What a story. Nice.
I love avocado too. I think I eat way too much – its a bit ridiculous :)

  36. That sounds like so much fun. Now you get to celebrate again!

I love avocado in pasta too!
