I am a Work in Progress

It may surprise some people who read my blog and not surprise others who have known me a long time………

That I did not always have it together when it comes to food-specifically my food consumption.

  • In my twenties I consistently gained and lost the same twenty pounds over and over.
  • In my thirties I got it a bit more together by losing the twenty pounds for good but I started a bit of binge behavior.

I would eat really “clean” during the week.  Mostly eating grilled chicken and cottage cheese and then would binge out on the weekends.  My husband and I would actually plan our “cheat day” weeks in advance dreaming of the forbidden foods we were going to eat.

Unfortunately, what ended up happening is we would eat ALL day the foods we had craved and them feel sick for the next 3 days until our bodies rebounded.

It was a cycle I am happy I am not on anymore.

Since we started reading food and health blogs and learning how to trust our bodies, Bill and I are eating good, healthful foods and not fixating on any one concept like high protein, low fat, high carbs, or no carbs.

Instead we are living a life where we do not feel like we have to “binge out” since we are eating more foods in moderation and nothing is really on the forbidden list.

Things are not perfect but I am a work in progress.  I am listening to my body. (I still want to read Intuitive Eating!)  And feeding it  nutritious foods.

Thank you for all helping me find my way and continue to live a healthful and fun life!  Your blogs help me so much.

Well tomorrow Khrystle has plans to do upper body and plyometrics with me.  I am scared-really scared ;)

Also, I have a giveaway I am going to announce on Wednesday!

It has something to do with this:

Have a good night and thanks for reading :)

If you have an extra minute, stop my Marcia’s blog home at Frugal Healthy Simple, she wrote some really nice things about her favorite blogs.

Greek Eats and a Bike Race

I am sitting in bed with a sunburn and exhausted-but it was a GREAT day :)

Bill and I headed down to Los Angeles so he could race in the LA Circuit Race.

Weather wise it could not have been better.  Clear blue sky’s and temps in the 80′s-you got to love that!

We drove the coast route-taking the 1 through Malibu:

Can’t get much better than this.  Bill and I still pinch ourselves that we live here :)

Once we got to the race, Bill got ready:

And then he lined up with the rest of the guys:

And they raced:

While he was racing I ran into these guys:

Trevor, Khrystle, and Sade

Trevor ended up getting first in his race!

And I ran into these guys:

Sara and John

Bill had a good race and was able to comfortably finish with the pack.

Afterwards, we decided we would stop at our very favorite Greek Restaurant in Malibu:

We started with a Kendall Jackson Chardonnay for me and a Mythos Greek Beer for Bill:

I got my usual favorite-the Greek Californian Salad:

Seriously this is the best greek salad ever.  It is a traditional greek salad but with added avocado and sun-dried tomatoes.

Today I had them add some grilled shrimp too-so good:

Well  bloggy friends,  I so hope you had a great weekend too.

The week is about to start up again but I only have to work until Thursday and then I am off for Spring Break-YAY

Anyone else taking Spring Break off?

Have a great night and thanks for reading.
