Good Morning Bloggies!
Hope you are having a slow Sunday morning like I am.
After getting up too early yesterday for my run it is nice to take it slow today
Don’t forget to enter my giveaway for a really cute Thermal Hoodie!
The giveaway goes until Wednesday night so you still have time
Now on to some food talk!
Bill and I normally consider ourselves 85% vegetarians.
We tend to enjoy eating veggies, grains, and beans mostly with a bit of cheese, salmon, and tuna thrown in for fun.
We do not drink dairy products and for some reason neither one of us likes yogurt.
Nor are we big egg eaters though if I go out to eat I may have Eggs Benedict-one of my favs!
However VERY occasionally we crave meat.
Last night was one of those nights.
We went to the store and got a package of organic meat strips and some salad fixin’s.
We wanted to create a yummy beef and cheese salad.
Bill got to work on the creating the delicious beef strips.
He sautéed olive oil, salt and pepper, red pepper flakes, and some garlic:
Then he added the strips of beef while we drank some of this lovely wine a friend got us:
Lots of spinach and butter lettuce for a base:
Added in some radishes, carrots, red cabbage, sprouts, and broccoli:
Topped with bleu cheese, marinated mushrooms, olives, and almonds:
My plate with a side of steamed broccoli (can never get enough) and some hummus (of course)!
It was very satisfying and filled me up fast.
We finished off the meal by trying my giveaway prize from Nutritious Foodie.
This Tempt Hemp Ice Cream:
It was good. In fact both of the Tempt products we tried were delicious.
Thanks again Gelerah!
Well I am off to enjoy my Sunday.
I think a little hike is planned with Pepsi-I am very sore from yesterday!
And of course a trip to Trader Joes………
What do you consider yourself?
-
A Vegan?
-
A Vegetarian?
-
A Pescatarian?
-
An Omnivore?

I used to be vegetarian, then vegan, now pescatarian (at least for now until I figure out what foods are bothering me! So frustrating). I love me some veggies though and try to eat as much organic and local as possible.
Fantastic looking salad! And I seriously need to give that Hemp ice cream a try!
I am probably about 70% vegetarian, 0% vegan and the rest omnivore. (I just can’t give up cheese. At all. Ever.) That salad looks insanely delicious – you pumped it up with so many good toppings.
I’ve been meaning to give hemp ice cream a try…good to hear you gave it a good review!
Such a great looking salad!
I would say that for the most part I have a pescatarian diet, however, from time to time I do have/crave chicken. In the past two years I have really cut back on my meat consumption, which hasn’t been so bad because I have never been big fan of red meat. Living and cooking on my own + blogging has allowed me to learn of other ways to provide my body with needed nutrients without having to consume meat. Right now, I am slowly cutting back on fish maybe down the road I will be a vegetarian?!!?
Hope you have a relaxing Sunday you deserve it girl
I consider myself a pescatarian but to be honest I am moving more towards a vegetarian. I live on eggs and egg whites but I rarely eat cheese and I don’t drink milk. I am almost a vegan except for the eggs and fish! I am all mixed up.
Great looking salad! I hope you have a fabulous Sunday.
I eat meat, although we only eat local meat. So eating out is pretty much vegetarian unless we find a place that serves local meat. We are lucky where we live that there are a lot of farmers and 2 local meat processors, so we can feel good about what we consume.
Since being diagnosed with Gall Bladder issues in November, 2009, I drastically altered my eating practices. At first the only thing I could eat was yogurt and sweet potatoes.
I would consider myself to be an in-season-vegetarian: I eat locally grown, organic, in-season fruits, vegetables, and grains since then and mostly raw. I am finding that my body operates optimally when I eat raw. I eat fish about 1x every 4-6 weeks and even then I’m quite the snob, again, opting for only fresh, in season, wild caught.
I have completely lost the desire to eat any four legged products. I confess I do eat Greek and Middle Eastern styke plain yogourt just about every day.
So what am I? I am a health-ful eater
high raw vegan but i never use labels with strangers, i just tell them i eat alot of plants and leave it at that. they dont get it and the truly curious one will ask but i just dont volunteer and thereby waste my energy trying to explain to someone what or how i eat.
J. Lohr has some great wines. It is Sunday…wonder if we have any?…..
I am a Pescatarian and, although I still enjoy the smell of meat cooking, the smell of it raw truly grosses me out. It’s a wonder I can still cook it for my husband.
But I think that’s why I don’t miss eating it at all.
95% vegetarian, probably 60-70% vegan. (As in, % of our meals that are vegetarian or vegan).
We eat what we’re served at other people’s houses, but generally only buy meat (or fish) to eat once a month. And only humanely raised, from the farmer’s market if we can swing it.
I am a flexatarian.. I eat mostly vegetarian, especially when I don;t know where the meat offered is from. However I do occassionally eat grass fed, hormone free meat, chicken and eggs.. Also a definite wineatarian too!!:)
I eat everything in moderation — I don’t really know what the term is for that though, lol! I typically eat vegetarian 3 or 4 nights a week, but I also eat fish, chicken, beef, etc. Your salad looks full of flavor and different textures — delicious!
I’m going to go with Flexitarian… I probably eat about 85-90% vegetarian. For me it’s baby steps, I feel better when I eat less meat but don’t know if I will ever give up eggs, cheese and yogurt. I’m a work in progress I guess.
Have a great evening Kalli!!
xoxo
I am mostly a vegan at this point, occasionally having seafood, but I really don’t crave it anymore with so many satisfying raw vegan recipes. I haven’t had red meat in years and stopped eating “land meat” months ago. I did turn to some vegan meat substitutes during the transition. My hubby is still a meat eater and I’ll cook it for him, but even he’s eating a lot less and does many vegan dinners with me.
The salad does look amazing!
I’m a vegetarian while my husband is a huge meat eater. It’s a little bit of a challenge, but not so bad.
You should totally try out the yoga tune up balls or something similar they totally rock!
i’ve been vegetarian a few times in my life but now i’m an everythingtarian – i eat mostly vegetarian b/c my husband is, mostly white meat, and mostly organic and free range.
I am an omnivore that eats a mostly plant based, vegan diet. I do eat fish, eggs and chicken occasionally but don’t like to really label myself. Though I eat a vegan diet most meals, when I crave things that are not vegan, I eat them.
Hi, it’s Jennifer from Living Harvest. I’m so glad to hear that you enjoyed our Tempt Coffee Biscotti and our Tempt Hempmilk as well!
No beef for about 5 years now – I do eat chicken, turkey or fish once or twice a week. I really love veggies and fruits. I also eat dairy. Did Pepsi have a good time on her hike?
I am vegan, but am sure that from time to time, I eat vegetarian products by accident. No biggie!
