Last night Bill made us a pasta dinner for my pre race fuel
He is a master in the kitchen and he even took pics of his masterpiece:
It was delicious.
This morning before he got on his new bike he had this bowl of yum:
And I had this before my race:
So about the race……….
The Good:
- ran 6.2 miles
- the route was awesome along the water
- finished in 58:22 (9:22 average)
- placed 8th in my age group
- ran into a student of mine:
He rocked the race averaging 8:35 miles!
The Bad:
- felt horrible the whole time
- relived my breakfast the whole race
- wanted to go faster but could not
Overall, I am happy with my average pace. I used to be really slow and averaging 9:22 per mile is good FOR ME.
I want to go faster now
I guess I should start training

WOW great job on placing 8!! that is amazing!
oh man i would love the hoodie! id wear it with jean to class or to workout in at the gym!
I love almond milk – and oatmeal. Yum!
Aw! Too bad you felt blech the whole time.
I’m not a runner, although I’ve been considering giving it a try for a while now.
OK… girl YOU ARE FAST!! No denying it!!
1)I would love the hoodie…and would probably pair it with some white shorts for summer!!
I’m not sure if you wanted a different comment for each entry so all of mine will be on this one comment…
2) I’m off to comment on HIS site
3) You are on my blogroll!!
wooohoooo!!
Thanks Kalli!!
xoxo
OK, you are always making me so hungry with all these pictures of food!
1. I would wear the hoodie with jeans or my favorite cargo shorts (yeah, I’m kind of a tomboy).
I linked your giveaway on my sidebar!
Ok, those first two entries aren’t going to link back to me. I typed my blog address in wrong. Anyway, you are now in my blogroll
First: You did SO GREAT in that race. Good for you. The fact that you felt kind of crappy but kept running makes it even more of a victory. Maybe you should skip cereal as a pre race meal and go for something drier like toast and PB or banana and PB?
Second: LOVE that hoodie! I would wear it with jeans or……my new bike! Well, that would be while I’m RIDING my new bike, which I haven’t actually bought yet, but we’re talking about it.
9:22 is Great! Don’t be so hard on yourself. Chances are you normally train later in the day and the body gets used to those bursts of energy and prepares for them at their “usual” time. I equate it to having a baby. Women who workout, magically, go into labor around the time they’d be typically working out. The body knows when to kick into high gear and the fact that you woke up at the crack of dawn to do just that is amazing! Congrats!
Left a comment for Trevor. I just love that hoodie. So cool
That is an awesome race time! Bravo!
I’d wear the hoodie with my jogging pants or over my triathlon suit in colder weather.
You are also in my reader
You should be very proud. That’s a very good time. I ran 10 miles today and for the first time broke a 10:00 mile for that distance. (9:53). But boy, I felt like throwing up the entire last 3 miles. It was all I could do to keep up that pace.
You are amazing! And you were doubting the 10k distance!! Good job!!!
Congrats on the race! I hate it when I feel icky during one, but like you said, you still did really well!
I would wear the hoodie with jeans going out. It’s warm enough to just wear that as a jacket!
that hoodie is super cute. i’d wear it with some yoga pants…
congratulations to you on the race!
The hoodie is very cute , I would wear it with jeans or sweats.
Great job in the race, Kalli. Wanting to go faster when you feel like you can’t is no fun…but you finished–and with a good time too!
Congratulations on your PDR! That’s awesome! Sorry it was a rough one, but at least you know you can do a 10k now, right? I can see me wearing that hoodie with yoga pants at work!
I would wear this cute hoodie with my awesome Lucy Hatha Yoga Pants. If you are in need of some great yoga pants definitely check those out. They rock.
Great job on your race! Congrats on your great time!
Congrats on the nice finish!! What a great accomplishment. Reliving your breakfast the whole time, however, does not sound like fun. I would run more races myself if there were nicer views on the race courses here in Columbus. Running by the water sounds so nice!! Around here we run on the streets and pass cars. joy.
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity. To be honest, I probably wouldn’t use it, so I won’t take away an entry from someone who would!!
Have a happy Sunday!
Great race! I love hoodies, they’re my stand-by so I could rock this with jeans, comfy pants, anything!
Hi Kalli – Congratulations on your race! I think it is quite an accomplishment to run a race and to go faster than you used to run is great! The hoodie is very cool – I can see me wearing it with jeans – everyone would ask where did I get that cool hoodie! Have a good Sunday and tell Bill the pasta looks yummy.
That’s a GREAT average pace. Especially considering you weren’t even sure you should do the race. Way to go!
Yay! Excellent job on the race! But I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t feel your best! I think that pace is pretty darn inspiring!
And Bill is such a good cook!
I’d wear the hoodie with my traditional yoga pants that I feel like i put on everyday! ha, I need to wear real pants more often!
id wear it with yoga pants!

blogrolled you
Can we enter more than once? If so ….here is my second entry. Yay! I really want that hoodie.
If not, whoops! Sorry
Love the hoodie! I’d wear it with good old yoga pants. Great job on your race! Even if there were some down sides.
Wow, that oatmeal bowl is overflowing! Great eats and you did awesome on the race despite not feeling well, good job! Much better time than I could do.
Hmmm, I would wear the hoodie for mountain biking in cooler weather and winter races here, it looks comfy.
I would wear the hoodie with… EVERYTHING. I think it is cute and dare I say… SEXY?
I link this giveaway on my site.
What a cool giveaway! I would wear that when it’s chilly outside here when running or walking my dog!
Yes yes yes! This is an amazing giveaway…

Great job on pushing through it even though you weren’t feeling your best!
I think that’s a great time – pity about the breakfast thing though – hate when that happens!
Just LOVE that hoodie!
You’re on my blogroll!
You know, I hadn’t even noticed that you were doing a giveaway. I already added you to my blogroll, funny!

I added you to my blog list.
Looks comfy . . . I’d probably wear it with jeans (my usual apparel as a stay at home mom)!
Just found your blog at Racing with Babes!
Good job on your race. I am not a fast runner – I have been really working hard to stay steady at 9 minute miles but usually I am at 9:30. I have a 6.5 mile race this weekend I’d be happy to average at 9:22.
