New Food

What a busy and fun weekend.  I hope all of you had a chance to enjoy it as well :)

After the Birthday Shenanigans, Bill and I packed up the car with Pepsi in tow and headed to a mountain bike race.

But before we left I had the opportunity to  try out one of the new products I had won from Gelerah’s Tempt giveaway.

I made a green monster with LOTS of spinach, a banana, flax seed, whey protein, and Tempt Hemp Milk:

It was delicious!  I could tell the hemp milk made it creamier and richer tasting.

Very good-I would definitely buy it.

Can’t wait to try the Tempt hemp ice cream I also won :)

I had my shake with a 110 calorie bagel.  I love bagels but rarely eat them because they are so caloric however my mother in law (Mrs. Fit and Sixty herself!) loves these and now I am a convert.  They are so good and satisfying.

of course I topped the bagel off with almond butter!

So after the delicious shake we overnighted it at a Residence Inn and this morning Bill raced his mountain bike.

Here he is at the start line:

Here he is during the race coming through the “feed zone:”

Pepsi loves to watch too:

And here he is battling for 7th place.  He was not happy with his results (because he won last year) even though I think he did great :)

On our way home we stopped at Whole Foods and picked up a few more new food products:

Can’t wait to try these this week!

Have you ever gone to or participated in a Mountain Bike Race?

Have you tried any of my new food products?

  1. Hemp milk really does add a little something to green monsters. I just wish it was slightly more affordable like almond milk. I haven’t mountain bike raced, but I have raced track bikes. So much fun!

Oh it looks beautiful where you were!! I’ve never been to or even ridden a mountain bike, but it looks like fun!! At least the ‘spectator’ part does!

I’ve had those bagels and they are delicious! I discovered them when I was doing Weight Watchers. I’m glad you liked the Hemp milk, I love it!!

    Have a great evening!
    xoxo

I love the sesame tamari rice cakes. Great snack.

  4. Tempt makes ice cream too in hemp milk. I won some in a give away and my hubs who is the true ice cream junkie said he prefered the tempt mint choc chip to any exotic high end cow’s milk regular dairy ice cream, that’s high praise from him LOL :)

I can’t say I’ve tried any new food lately; however, today my carnivorous husband is grilling so I’ve prepped my veggies as well and I’m excited to try the fennel bulb on the grill over the oak wood. I have also sauteed collards and kale on the stove top with olive oil and garlic. I’m so excited about my veggie feast tonight, complete with hummous.

  6. I’ve never been to a mountain bike race, but I raced road bikes in college and I’ve been to a bazillion races!

  7. Wow, Bill is such an inspiration! I’ve never been in a race at all. Sounds sort of fun, but I bet I’d be terrified!
Glad your weekend was great! I really want to know how those Amy’s Cheddar burgers are- I love her other veggie ones so I bet these are delicious!
    Have a great Monday!

    ohhh, FUN!

ummm, no and no! but we ride mountain bikes (or at least hubs does, and i have in the past) but I am looking for a bike so we can all go out soon. I love trail riding and can’t wait to add it to my list of fun things I do now!

I am happy to say I bought no new products this week.. am using coconut milk out of a can and made my own “larabars” for the week I also made some buttermilk dressing too.

I miss nooch but everything else I am good with less at the moment!
    I love bagels! MMM

    have a great new week!

I can’t wait to hear what you think about the cashew butter because I really want to try it…I just don’t want to be stuck with a whole jar if I don’t like it!

Your hubby is so cute and congrats to him for such a great competition!

PS – Maya’s party was at my in-laws place…ours is way too small to accommodate 75 people!

  10. Joanne says:

Congrats to your husband! I could only dream of coming in 7th in a race of any kind…so I think that is kind of amazing.

Your new foods look excellent! I’ve been meaning to try cashew butter…but I have 7 jars of nut butters currently sitting in my apartment. So I think I need to hold off. For now.

  11. I found hemp milk on MAJOR sale this weekend. I tried it yesterday, and I liked it too! Not very different than soymilk.

  12. Congrats to your hubby!

I haven’t really tried any new products lately but I have tried a new food. I made dahl for the first time ever this week and I really like it. I always though I didn’t like indian food but I guess I do!

  13. I haven’t tried either hemp milk or cashew butter yet, I love making nut/seed butters and milk and have plenty of cashews and hemp seeds, so maybe I’ll try for my next batch. I tried raw pumpkin seed granola from Whole Foods – very good.

Congrats to your hubby, that’s still a great placing! We’re really into mountain biking, but have not done any racing yet – still waiting for the mud to dry up so we can get out on the bikes more!

  14. I am glad you liked the milk :)

Do you mountain bike as well… my husband has been trying to get me mountain bike… but I haven’t given it a try just yet.

  15. Erin says:

Have not tried cashew butter but I LOVE almond butter. My budget just doesnt allow for it *tears*
