This morning as I was laying in bed I realized I am a morning person.
I bet my mom would not believe it. She had to drag me out of bed numerous times in my teens at 11am.
But yes, now in my elder years I realize I am a morning person.
- I think better in the morning.
- I enjoy working out first thing in the morning.
I just feel more “clear.”
By the afternoon, I have a hard time putting a coherent sentence together. And I definitely do not want to work out or write that long-lost novel!
I would much prefer just pouring myself a glass of wine and making dinner.
What about you? When are you at your best? Morning, afternoon, or evening?
Speaking of evening.
This recipe was my motivation last night:
Instead of using true arborio rice, I used this:
Here are the rest of the ingredients:
It was delicious served in half of a butternut squash:
Topped the warm, delicious carb-of-love with raisins and pistachios.
On another note:
Have you heard of the sweet potato challenge on Running to Slow Things Down?
I got my bag…….now I just have to get creative.
Did you hear that Can You Stay for Dinner got the Sunshine Award? She really deserves it-in every post you can see her “sunshiny” personality : )
Happy Tuesday Bloggies!

First, the sweet potatoe-I get mine from Farmers’ Market weekly. I like the yellow kind. I’ve become quite a snob. We went to a BBQ at friend’s house and I took my sweet potatoe along for baking. No grilled meats for me. There’s really nothing quite like a really good sweet potatoe. I enjoy it as a sweet treat at room temp. I put houmous on it. Try it with almond butter. It is great with mediterranean style yogourt and raw cashews. The list goes on.
Now, I’m not my best this morning. I’m typically better in the AM. However, I think I am at my best on Sunday morning when I get up extra early to enjoy a steamy cup of Joe (Allegra beans from Whole Foods) while I snuggle with our cat child. Ahhh…Sunday mornings!
sis i can’t wait for our friday sister day!
That risotto looks amazing…I have never put raisins in a risotto but am so going to try that…love the sweet/savoury mix.
I am so not a morning person. I need an hour just to ease into the day….then I can contemplate complex things like thinking…exercising.
Yum that looks good. I’ll have to try that combo. I just bought “Moosewood Restaurant Cooks for Health” and they have a “risotto” recipe with barley in it.
I am also very much a morning person. In bed at 9, up at 5 am. Gym at 5:30, or a DVD at home if it’s my spouse’s gym day.
I am, have always been, and will always be a morning person! It is very rare for me to sleep past 7!
It’s funny that you bring this up today of all days…. I am normally up between 6-6:30 but for some reason today I fell back to sleep and feel like I went into a DEEP sleep until 7:30 and now am having a hard time getting going, but I’m normally a morning person too. I thought it was just old age preventing me from staying up late…
I hadn’t heard about the sweet potato challenge but I’m off to check it out, I love sweet potatoes!!
Have a great day!!
xoxo
I used to be more of a morning person, but getting up at 5 each morning is really not agreeing with me lately! mmm that looks really comforting!
That risotto looks yummy! I am an afternoon person. I don’t mind getting up early, but I don’t feel ready to go and energized until late morning or early afternoon. I usually workout some time between 11am-3pm….that’s when I’m at my best I think
I am a morning person for sure. Love getting up early and getting tons done.
Dinner looks good.
PS. I mailed your coupons yesterday. Sorry for the delay I had a really rough week last week.
can’t wait to get them!
Wow, that risotto looks great! I love risotto, it’s such a comforting meal…
I love risotto, it looks so great. Somehow you just have an amazing knack for putting great foods together to make them look like they are restaurant quality!
I am definitely a morning person.
Kalli,
I read your comment on the sweet potatoe challenge and I thought of Rick.
Have you read Rick’s recipes? He’s the king of sweet potatoes….
I’ve tried nearly all of his sweet potato recipes – even the shake – which was really good after a long ride.
Anyway, thought I’d pass it on. http://www.activeVentura.com/ricksrecipes
Mmmm, the risotto looks fantastic! Making me hungry for dinner
I think I’m more of a morning person too, very different from my teen years.
Oh for sure I am a morning person. I get up between 4-6 most mornings without any sort of alarm.
I am definitely a morning person
I love having a good morning workout and being able to take full advantage of the day.
Your risotto looks delish!
Awww I was so so excited to see that little shout out in your post. It really made my whole day brighter. Thank you from the bottom of my heart- you are always so encouraging and make me feel so great!
I have become a morning person too! I love all things early in the day- breakfast is my favorite meal, working out is easier, and I have most of my creative energy.
I love that risotto. It looks so comforting and delicious! I would definitely love it in a butternut squash half too! Have a wonderful night love!
That risotto looks WONDERFUL!!! I am on a huge risotto kick lately!
I’m DEFINITELY a morning person. I am pathetic at night. I worked til 10pm last night, and was up at 5:30 this morning…worked 11 hours and made dinner when I got home. After dinner, I shelved the workout. I am so bad at night! I hardly ever do that, but when I really want to take a night off, I listen to my body. But I am so much sharper in the mornings!
Thanks for stopping by my blog, by the way! I look forward to stopping by more! : )
that risotto (minus the raisins) looks AMAZING!!!!!!!
i am absolutely 100% a morning person.. only problem with that is everyone around me seems to be night people so we don’t jive well as I am ready for bed at 8 and they are coming alive then!!!
I am totally a morning person. I had been looking forward to Tuesday morning because it was the first day I could sleep in since last Tuesday, and I woke up at 6. It’s a curse and a blessing. =)
looks JUST like the picture!! yummm I love that you took advantage of TJs too! i think i can be either depending on teh day and what I have to do..since I start work at 5am, that has transformed me into a morning person, however i do LOVE to sleep in!!
Mmmm I love risotto!!
