Yesterday Bill, Pepsi and I loaded up the car at the crack of dawn to drive up to San Luis Obispo (SLO) for the Cal Poly Classic. The Cal Poly Classic is a criterium style road race on the college campus in SLO. I had never been to SLO and was amazed at how beautiful the city and the college campus was. Bill and I did not want to leave……Can we stay please and be college students again-pretty please?
The “tough” girls raced first. Seriously Khrystle and Sara-you girls rock! This was a tough race with some decent hills in it and scary tight rainy corners.
And here is Khrystle racing:
Bill on his trainer:
John (Sara’s Boyfriend) on his trainer:
And the man behind the team and Metal Mountain bike shop-the infamous Trevor (hee hee):
Did I mention how cold it was?
Pepsi and I were freezing!
After the race, we all went to California Pizza Kitchen for lunch. I had not been to one in a while and was pleasantly surprised.
Hot tea:
And a BBQ salmon salad. It was good!
Bill had a pizza with peppers, bacon, and goat cheese:
What college did you go to? Did it have a beautiful campus? Would you want to do it over again?

So funny that you asked these questions now! I made the decision to go back to school just a few days ago and can’t imagine turning back now. It is all for the betterment of my family and myself. So – YES! I would do it over again…
What a great race! I really want to get into biking, but so expensive to get started. I want to start doing duathlons. Oh, my dad went to Cal Poly!! I went to a small college in Columbus, Ohio…Capital University, for my undergrad. I loved it and played volleyball all four years. I got my master’s degree in Anchorage, Alaska. So yes, my college campus in Anchorage was beautiful
.
i went to wesleyan university, in connecticut. i loved it there – it’s where i met my husband – and would do it all over again, no doubt about it!
Fabulous race!! Biking seems like such a great sport to get into!
I went to University of Massachusetts Amherst. I loved it more than any other time in my life. So so amazing. I would go back and do it again in a heartbeat!
I went to Clemson, and the campus really is beautiful!
But, if I could do it over again, I would’ve gone more than 30 minutes from home!
I’ve heard the expression, “youth is wasted on the young” and I would say, “college is wasted on the young, too”…if I knew now what I didn’t know then, wow. Would I want to be back in College? Do you mean like undergraduate, where you live in the dorm college? Heck yeah! And, I would do it “right” this time around.
Aw, I miss going to bike races with my husband! I also miss bike riding weather. I can’t wait for it to warm up a bit. I’m too big of a wimp to ride in the cold. I agree with Micheline that “college is wasted on the young”. I too want to go back and do it right this time.
I went to a small college in Nashville for undergrad and to Middle TN St. University for grad. school.
How neat…Fit Chick in the City and I went to the same school – Middle Tennesse State University (undergrad) and I went to American University for grad school. I would definitely do MTSU again but probably not grad school. I always thought that MTSU had a beautiful campus with lots of grass and big trees.
Crit races are my favorite! So much excitement! I went to Brown in Providence, RI and it has a beautiful campus. I miss walking through such a beautiful place every day! I would abso-freaking-lutely do it all over again. I loved every second of my college experience.
Dang. Those ladies do look like total butt-kickers.
UCLA! Very pretty. I loved it.
I went to UC Davis for law school. Did not love that quite so much. Not very pretty, either.
Great race pics and the food makes me want to go back to CPK. I went to UCF, it was an okay campus under perpetual construction when I went in the late 90s and known to be a party school. I would love to go back to college now that I’m older and wiser
Wait…when did CPK start carrying a BBQ Salmon Salad? That looks awesome! When I ate chicken I used to eat the BBQ Chicken Salad but this looks even better!
I went to USC which has a good reputation now but not so much back then. It is a nice campus, aside from the fact I was held up at gunpoint! I would never go back to school in a million years!
What a great race!
And I went to Texas State University. It has a beautiful HILLY campus. Everyone always joked you could tell which girls graduated from Texas State by the size of our calf muscles.
Those girls do look hardcore!
I went to the University of Missouri- Columbia…HECK yeah I’d do it all again… and better the 2nd time around. The campus was awesome.
I also went to the University of Missouri-Columbia. M I Z
YUM! that pizza looks so good!
What a fun race!
Good eats.
I would do college over and over again. What a great time. There was some learning in there as well.
I went to SUNY Oswego for my B.S. in Marketing and SUNY Tech for my Masters. Love learning.
I just read this post and loved all the cycling photos
I went to UMass Lowell which is a commuter campus and therefore not much around it, unlike some other campuses.
All that said I would go back to my college days. I had a great experience. Unlike most college students I didn’t drink while there so I didn’t really party. But I was a memeber of every society on campus… my day would start at 7 AM and would end at 11 or mid night… not to mention that being a commuter campus I didn’t own a car until my senior year.. so my mom would drop me off in the am (or I would walk the 4 miles) and my dad would pick me up on his way home from work (11 pm or mid night)… I wouldn’t change a thing about any of it though
