We’re Classy Like That

Last night-being Thursday and all, Bill and I decided to open up a bottle of “Two Buck Charles.”  Used to call it “Two Buck Chuck” but this sweet lady corrected me!  I kind of like the new name myself.

Anyway, we decided to open the bottle and the top of it broke off while we were pulling out the cork!

What in the world?!  Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Bill decided he could save the wine (thank god).  So he used a paper towel and we poured our wine through it so we would not get any glass in our glasses.  Smart man!  No wine should ever be wasted. Hee hee

I know what you are thinking?  Classy people for sure!

And today is Friday!  And Smoothie Friday at that.  What could be better?

The girls and I walked to our favorite place:

I got my smoothie:

I got a Butterfinger Smoothie.  It has carrot juice, almond butter, banana, and soy milk.  I added Spirulina because I like it green!

And Tea:

It was pretty good! I got it because  Mark from Living Wellness suggested it. I would get it again.

Here we are before we head out to work (sorry for the blurry pic):

Julie and Debby thank you for being such great walking partners!

At nutrition break I had a snack (my lovely vegan energy bars):

Lunch was leftover pasta:

And my afternoon snack was this bar:

It’s funny-I used to love these bars but now found them just okay.  Plus all the ingredients throw me off a bit.  The list was a mile long!

Now I am at home safe and sound and very happy.

I forsee a relaxing dinner at home.

What are you doing this wonderful Friday evening?

  1. Whew! Good thing no wine was wasted! And good thing no one got cut too!
You are sooooo adorable! You should post more pictures of yourself, too cute to hide!!

Tonight I’m hanging out with the big kids… and going to cook some Salmon!

    Have a great evening!
    xoxo

  2. We have opened SO many bottles of wine and NEVER, not EVER, have we had a bottle top break. That is really something.

Love the eats and the sound of that smoothie is making me hungry all over again.
    Yum!
As for our Fri. eve….we went skiing (Ted opted for snow boarding) then to dinner. We tried a new restaurant one town over. It was just okay…kind of a disappointment since we were so hungry and the food was only so so (at least from Ted’s opinion).

  3. I would just call that resourceful! When I first moved into my current apartment my friend Kellyn and I couldn’t find a corkscrew so we used a nail and a pair of pliers. Ridiculous? Yep, but it worked like a charm!

  4. Ya gotta do what you gotta do when it comes to the wine :D

Hope you have a great weekend!

  5. Oh goodness, I *hate* when the cork breaks like that! Glad you were able to save it! :D

I totally agree with the kashi bars. I used to adore them, and now I’m so over them. I think it might have something to do with the fact that I practically ate a box a week for about a year or two, so I’m probably just really tired of eating them. Besides, homemade granola bars taste *so* much better! :D

  6. Wow, that had the potential to be a big disaster! Glad you didn’t have to waste a bottle of wine. That would have been tragic. =) I’ve never had that happen before. That’s kinda crazy!

BTW, I’m feeling much better thanks for asking. Hope you’re feeling better!

  7. Hey! Thanks for the shout.

Of course, no wine should ever go to waste. I saw a recipe once that called for “leftover white wine” and I thought WHAT?! Who has “leftover wine?”

Enjoy that Two Dollar Charles! If you like red wine, get the Chariot Gypsy red table wine at TJs. It’s good, it’s about 5 dollars, and they don’t have it for long.

  8. Butterfinger smoothie?!? Hello I’m in love. Delicious day of eats!!
And this is slightly unrelated but necessary to tell you that you are so pretty!! Have a great weekend!!

  9. I’ve never ever seen that happen. Good thinking with the paper towel. I would have just braved the shards of glass floating in my cup!

  10. haha, “Two Buck Charles”! I like that. I do like that wine, a lot. Your husband was very smart to use a paper towel to drain it! I don’t know if I would have thought of that, brilliant. I have never had a bottle break like that either, maybe the company has cheap bottles so they can sell their product more cheap..who knows.

Your butterfinger smoothie sounds excellent. I could try making that at home, and I think I will!
Last night we went bowling with friends. We rarely go bowling, but it was a lot of fun. Tonight we are going to dinner with Nick’s family! Have a good one :)

  11. That’s so cool! Hope you liked the Rooibos ( say “Roy-Boss”) tea. The Butta Finga smoothie is good, huh? I had to try it because I like the real Butterfinger bar too.

  12. We’re classy like that, too … even for two buck Chuck! :)
