I read on http://www.msn.com/yesterday, Dr. Oz’s 6 tips for weight loss.
I thought I would share them with you and see what you think.
Here are his tips:
- Automate the process-meaning have the same breakfast and lunch everyday (I assume snacks too) and only change-up your dinner routine. Pretty good idea if you ask me. I think most of us do that who are health conscious. We tend to stick to foods that work for us.
- Stop beating yourself up-don’t stress if you eat too much or something you should not have. Just get back on the wagon again. I tend to agree with this too. Worrying about the “crap” you just ate is not going to help you in the long run. Life is too short. If you mess up-keep moving forward!
- Eat frequently and regularly-I think this is very important. I always feel like I eat way more often than people who are heavier or “unhealthyer” than me. Why is that?
- Have a contingency plan-meaning bring food when in doubt. I think we have mentioned this already throughout the blog world and I know I mentioned it last Friday in this post and a few weeks ago in this post.
- Eat to stay full not count calories or reach a specific calorie count per day. Now this I really I agree with! I am proud to say I am a forty-year old (well almost!) woman who has NEVER counted calories. I swear! I truly go off of how I feel and I keep weight off. Nuff said……
- Watch what you watch-apparently if you watch a sad movie you tend to eat more than when you watch a comedy. Weird? I can see how watching tv can make it harder to eat well with all the commercials for “bad” food every 15 minutes or so but watching sad movies? Interesting…….
Overall, I really like his tips. I think they are common sense and they are things we can all blend into our current lives easily.
What do you think?

I agree!
I love Dr. Oz!! I think for the most part I do all of the above and it’s nice to see that my being a ‘creature of habit’ and eating the same things day in and day out is a GOOD thing!!
Have a great evening!
In the last 14 months I have learned a few very important lessons that I wish had been modeled for me when I was growing up; that is
1. yes, routinize your breakfast and lunch as much as possible (I think of it as “either or”). For example, I either have oats for breakfast with antioxidant-filled berries or yogurt with fuit and almond butter.
2. plan, plan, plan…think ahead. Thanks to this strategy, I’ve saved my employer many $ since I always bring my own food to meetings or workshops. I know it is clean, fresh, and good for me.
3. think when I eat and think about what I eat. Eating is no more a mindless event. I’ve learned to eat with my eyes first (must have lots of brightly colored fruits, veggies, and legumes). Food never tasted so good and it has never looked so pretty.
I agree with all of them, particularly the eat frequently tip. Many people when first trying to lose weight skip meals, which ends up back firing later when they become ravenous and start tearing down the kitchen.
That’s very intresting… I do believe in 5 meals a day.. if I don’t have an afternoon snack before I leave work.. i will be so hungry when I get home that I would want to eat anything thing that I can get my hands on.
I am not a big fan of eating while watching TV… simply because I like to taste and enjoy the food I am eating and I can’t focus on both… but I have noticed that certain commercials make me crave certain foods…
